First Page Critiques
First Page Critiques
Writers must impress agents, editors, and readers, with their first page. While the entire manuscript should be polished, the opening can be the most crucial. Further, issues on the first page may continue through the full manuscript, so a lot can be learned about a project in just a few paragraphs.
In this class, senior developmental editor Elena Hartwell Taylor critiques first pages from the live-class attendees and discusses how writers can polish their own manuscript openings.
